Queens Park Rangers regained their spot at the bottom of the Premier League after being dispatched 2-1 by West Bromwich Albion at Loftus Road. Surprise! At least they found a new and thoroughly entertaining way to lose -- the Baggies winner came on a hilarious Robert Green own goal.
Why Green is starting over Julio Cesar remains a mystery to me, but it produced a festival of Boxing Day laughter for the visiting support. Already up 1-0 thanks to a stunning long-range effort from Chris Brunt 29 minutes in, West Brom were handed another goal just after the interval, when the former England number one flapped at a corner kick (under perhaps illegal pressure from Marc-Antoine Fortune, admittedly) and batted it straight into his own net.
Djibril Cisse halved the deficit with a cool finish over Ben Foster just after the hour mark, but despite throwing more or less everything at the Baggies goal, the hosts just couldn't find the equaliser, and West Brom jump up to fifth place.
