Freiburg received a goal from Daniel Caligiuri to edge Greuther Fürth 1-0.

Greuther Fürth remain rooted to the bottom of the table after Freiburg edged them 1-0 on Saturday. The win moves Freiburg up to 8th in the table with one more match before the winter break.

The visitors started the match with a negative, defensive approach and paid for it early. Daniel Caligiuri picked up the ball on the edge of the penalty area, turned to face the goal, and put a great shot past Fürth goalkeeper Wolfgang Hesl.

Freiburg controlled the contest throughout and kept Fürth away from any serious attack for the majority of the match. In the 82nd minute, Fürth nearly scored after beating Oliver Baumann, but Pavel Krmas deflected the shot from Christopher Nothe off of the goalpost and out for no goal.

The loss extends Fürth's winless streak to 14 matches and keeps them 10 points from safety. Freiburg are now two points from finding their way into a European place in the table.
