Arsenal Insist Jack Wilshere Not Ruled Out For Season

Arsenal have moved quickly to squash rumors that Jack Wilshere's injury setback will keep him out for the remainder of the season. The midfielder suffered a stress fracture in his foot and speculation was that it would mean the end of his season, but Arsenal say that the stress fracture is in a different area than his original injury and that Wilshere could still return this season.

"The injury is in a different area to his previous surgery," the club said in a statement on its official site. "It will be reassessed in around two weeks time by our medical team and medical experts who have worked together throughout Jack’s recovery."

Equally as important as Wilshere not being ruled out for the season is that Arsenal did not say he would definitely return this season. His injury still remains serious and whether he returns appears to still be a toss up. For a team that sold Cesc Fabregas and was going to lean heavily on Wilshere, the midfielder's injury has been a major blow and is a big reason why they find themselves out of the top four right now.
