Baltimore Ravens pass rusher Terrell Suggs has been named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year, barely beating out Jared Allen.

Terrell Suggs has had an extremely successful, if statistically up and down NFL career. He's been moved all around the front seven and played in different schemes, but he's finally found his home and had the best year of his career by a large margin in 2011. Just barely beating out Jared Allen and a group of other strong candidates, the Baltimore Ravens pass rusher has been named the Assosicated Press NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Suggs recorded a career-high 14 sacks in 2011 while also recording a career high in forced fumbles with seven. He becomes the third player on his current team -- along with Ed Reed and Ray Lewis -- to be named the NFL's defensive player of the year. Suggs recorded 52 tackles, six passes defensed and two interceptions in addition to his sack and forced fumble numbers.
