Sevilla didn't look to have a whole lot of ideas about how to create against Barcelona, who had very little trouble grabbing a road win on Saturday. The home side created a couple of decent shots, but never really tested Victor Valdes and never looked like they had much of a chance of grabbing points, as Barcelona cruised to a 2-0 victory.
Xavi scored the opener 18 minutes in on a fantastic direct free kick, and his brilliance was matched, if not surpassed, by Lionel Messi seven minutes later. He put Barcelona up 2-0 after 25 minutes with a fantastic goal on a chipped finish, which he executed after nutmegging a defender.
After both goals, the cameras zoomed in on Javi Veras, the goalkeeper responsible for Sevilla's 0-0 draw at Camp Nou in the fall. It was unfair to the man between the sticks on Saturday, Andres Palop, as he actually had a great game and was a lot of the reason why Barcelona only won by two goals.
The Blaugranas were the better team throughout the match, but let off the gas a bit after the second goal and didn't look like they were desperate in the second half to find a third goal.
