Guizhou Renhe of the Chinese Super League have admitted an interest in bringing aging England stars Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand to the club this summer. The side from South West China are prepared to offer the pair huge wages in order to get them to sign. Club chairman Wang Guolin told reporters yesterday;
I want the best team in China and we are prepared to invest a lot of money to bring Ferdinand and Lampard to us. Many people here watch the Premier League and know how good the two players are.
The money on the table is reported to be close to £250,000 per week, which may seem tempting to players of Lampard and Ferdinand's ages, however out of personal pride, you'd expect both to see out their careers at their current clubs.
Lampard is one of several Chelsea players who have been linked with moves to the Far East this season, as Didier Drogba has also been linked with a move to Shanghai Shenhua, where he could link up with former Blues teammate Nicholas Anelka. It's the first time that Ferdinand has been linked with a move to China, as sides in the country look to spend big and ensure that their league is taken seriously.
