It looked like Palermo was on its way to a home win over Udinese, but a late goal by Gabriel Torje earned the Zebrette a point in a 1-1 draw. The point moves Udinese level with Lazio for third place, the crucial final Champions League spot, and actually ahead of the Romans on goal difference.
Fabrizio Miccoli opened the scoring in the 31st minute when he got free down the left and ripped a shot across to the far post for a fine goal. It was a deserved goal for Miccoli, too, after almost scoring after five minutes and causing problems for the Udinese defense with regularity.
Down a goal, Udinese turned to Antonio Di Natale to find an equalizer and he almost did on several occasions. He forced Emiliano Viviano into a good save twice and missing the frame with another opportunity. Miccoli looked just as dangerous and almost scored a second, but he couldn't connect either.
Finally, Torje came off the bench and quickly put himself on the scoresheet. Roberto Pereya fed the Romanian, whose clinical finish left Viviano no chance and delivered Udinese a vital point in their quest for a Champions league place.
