No Mexican team has been knocked out of the CONCACAF Champions League by a non-Mexican team in a two-legged tie. Unless Toronto FC can somehow tip Santos Laguna, that streak will live on for another year.
Odds are that TFC can't get past Santos with Torsten Frings out hurt and Santos probably the best team remaining in the tournament, so it's looking like more of the same in the Champions League this year -- Mexican domination.
There is a guarantee of at least one Mexican team in the final because the other semifinal features a pair of them, with Monterrey and Pumas UNAM squaring off. Monterrey are the defending champions and Pumas have only sometimes taken this competition seriously, so the edge is definitely with Monterrey, especially considering they easily dispatched Morelia in the quarterfinals.
