Marseille Vs. Bayern Munich, 2012 UEFA Champions League: Bavarians Lead 1-0 At Halftime

Update: Marseille 0-2 Bayern Munich, Final Score

Bayern Munich are in the drivers' seat in their UEFA Champions League tie against Marseille. The home side almost got to halftime with the score tied at 0-0, which would have suited them just fine, but they're in a big hole thanks to Mario Gomez's 44th minute goal. L'OM are going to be effectively out of the competition without a comeback in the second half, and Bayern will feel very comfortable with their 1-0 lead.

Marseille actually had the first great opportunity in the match to score. In the 8th minute, Manuel Neuer saved a header from Stephane Mbia on a corner kick, but his save fell to Loic Remy. The Marseille striker had room to shoot and teammates to cross to, but instead put a bad shot into the side netting.

The Bayern goal came just before half in beautiful, though controversial fashion. Mario Gomez applied the finish on the end of a beautiful team move.

But wait, how did that move start? How does Phillip Lahm win the ball back from Mathieu Valbuena before starting that attack?
