The concussion that Mikel Arteta suffered against Liverpool will keep him out of Arsenal's Champions League match against AC Milan on Tuesday. Considering how severe the injury looked when it happened on Saturday, it seemed unlikely that Arteta would have a chance to play against Milan and on Monday Arsene Wenger confirmed that Arteta would be out a week.
Arteta collided with Jordan Henderson during Arsenal's 2-1 win and when he fell to the ground there was no doubt that he was concussed, but whether he was even conscious was unclear. He was given oxygen as he laid on the pitch before being stretchered off of the field and tests later confirmed his concussion.
Arsenal were already facing an uphill battle to advance on Tuesday after falling 4-0 in the first leg at the San Siro. Now they will be without Arteta, while Abou Diaby and Yossi Benayoun have also been ruled out and Tomas Rosicky looks like a doubt.
