The knockout stages of the 2011-2012 CONCACAF Champions League is about ready to kick off in Morelia and it should be a dandy. Monterrey are visiting Monarcas Morelia in the first leg of this quarterfinal tie and both teams are bringing pretty much their best teams. If anyone questioned whether the Mexican clubs were making the Champions League a priority, here is your answer.
Of course, there is more to a great match than good players. They are a key component, but we'll have to see how much Monterrey really goes for it. They have Aldo De Nigris and Humberto Suazo up top, but they had them in some group stage matches, only to isolate them with some very defensive play. They could do so again in hopes of getting a draw and then winning the tie at home in the second leg.
Monterrey: Orozco; Meza, Chávez, Perez, De Nigris, Reyna, Basanta, Zavala, Delgado, Mier, Suazo.
Monarcas Morelia: Vilar; Pérez, Romero, Màrquez Lugo, Toloza, Ayala, Aldrete, Sepulveda, Lugo, Leao, Huiqui.
