All Serie A matches in Round 33, and the remaining matches in Serie B, have been postponed due to the death of Piermario Morosini, who collapsed on Saturday during the match between Livorno and Pescara. In memory of Piermario, the FIGC has suspended all matches.
The midfielder, 25 years old, collapsed of an apparent heart attack 31 minutes into the match, and had died by the time the ambulance reached the hospital. Such a tragedy is not just a loss to his family and friends, to his teammates, or even to Livorno. The loss will be felt by the entire calcio community, from Entella Chiavari to AC Milan. Nothing could be more appropriate this weekend than setting aside team colors, calling off matches, and showing strength in unity in the face of the death of Morosini.
So use those hours you would be settling back and watching calcio to connect with a loved one. Please.
