Chelsea Vs. Barcelona, 2012 UEFA Champions League: Big Miss For Alexis Sanchez

Stay connected with SB Nation

Sometimes, it just isn't your night. Alexis Sanchez has looked dangerous all night for Barcelona, but he's having some absolutely terrible luck. He had Barcelona's first chance of the game in the 9th minute when he chipped Petr Cech and hit the crossbar, and he's missed on another golden chance. This one came in the 57th minute, and because of the rain, he deserves a bit of a pass.

First, here's the finish or lack thereof.

Looks pretty bad, right? Well, it was from a tough angle, and he played himself into that spot. Cesc Fabregas found him with an absolutely brilliant chipped pass, but Sanchez took a very poor first touch to put himself in a difficult shooting position. It looked like the heavy rain could have affected his bad touch, but even so, a much better effort is always going to be expected from a player of his caliber.
