The first leg of the 2012 CONCACAF Champions League Final is here. Monterrey host Santos Laguna in an all-Mexico final. Monterrey are the defending champions, while Santos Laguna are trying to win a major title after coming close in their domestic league several times in the past few years. Needless to say, this should be an exciting final. These teams have pretty good defenses, but both have even better attacks, so a high-scoring match is a very real possibility tonight.
On to the lineups:
Monterrey: Jonathan Orozco, José Basanta, Severo Meza, Dárvin Chávez, Hiram Mier, Luis Pérez, Jesús Zavala, Ángel Reyna, Humberto Suazo, Neri Cardozo, Aldo de Nigris
Santos: Oswaldo Sánchez, Jorge Estrada, Felipe Baloy, Aarón Galindo, Osmar Mares, Candido Ramirez, Marc Crosas, Juan Pablo Rodríguez, Christian Suarez, Darwin Quintero, Herculez Gomez
Both teams are playing very strong lineups, not surprisingly. Oribe Peralta is not starting for Santos, with Quintero taking his place, and Daniel Ludueña has been replaced by youngster Candido Ramirez. Monterrey is playing essentially their very best players at the moment, and as the home team should have an edge in this match. Still, it should be an entertaining affair worthy of a major final.
