Valencia attacking midfielder Sergio Canales faces six months out after suffering his second knee injury of the season.
Sergio Canalas faces six months on the sideline after suffering his second knee injury of the season.
The 21-year old who is on a two-year loan with Valencia from Real Madrid, was stretchered off in second half of Los Che's Europa League semi final against Atletico Madrid. It was confirmed today by Valencia's medical chief Jordi Candel that Canalas suffered a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Canalas had just recently returned to play after recovering from a partial tear of the same ligament back in October against Atheltic Bilbao. It's another disappointing setback for the talented young midfielder for one of Spain's promising up and coming stars and there will be concerns about his future and his knee's ability to hold up.
Since joining Valencia at the beginning on the 2011 season, Canales has only made 11 appearances for the club, far fewer than manager Unai Emery had likely been expecting after securing his services from Real Madrid.
