Chelsea Vs. Benfica, 2012 UEFA Champions League: Halftime Score, This Is Over

Before this match started, everyone knew that Benfica needed a minor miracle. Even those who believe Benfica was the much better team in the first leg (who are these people?) had to admit before the game started that a comeback was unlikely. It's halftime in the second leg, and a Benfica comeback is now basically impossible. Chelsea leads 1-0 on the night and 2-0 on aggregate.

Benfica, in addition to being down two goals, are down a man. Maxi Pereira, you win the award for worst sending off ever. He picked up a yellow card for dissent in the 21st minute, then got another in the 41st minute for a brainless studs-up tackle on John Obi Mikel.

The yellow for dissent came after the referee granted a penalty to Chelsea in the 20th minute, when Javi Garcia shoved Ashley Cole in the box. Frank Lampard stepped up and hit an average penalty which Artur got a hand to, but he couldn't make a save and the ball trickled into the back of the net.

For some reason, the two teams will play for another 45 minutes.
