Three of the four Europa League quarterfinals are still very much in doubt heading into Thursday's second legs.
The first leg of every UEFA Europa League quarterfinal featured goals and some fantastically entertaining football. Heading into Thursday's second legs, all but one tie is still very much in play. The one tie that appears to be dead is the one between Athletic Bilbao and Schalke 04, who play at San Mames. Bilbao won 4-2 in Gelsenkirchen last week, putting Schalke to the sword in the final 20 minutes with some spectacular counter attacking.
In every other tie, the situation is exactly the same. The three home teams -- Sporting Lisbon, AZ Alkmaar and Atletico Madrid -- all won their games 2-1 last week. This means that all of Metalist Kharkiv, Valencia and Hannover can go through with 1-0 home wins on Thursday.
Schedule (All games 3 p.m. ET)
Athletic Bilbao vs. Schalke 04
Metalist Kharkiv vs. Sporting Lisbon
Valencia vs. AZ Alkmaar
Hannover 96 vs. Atletico Madrid
