Germany Vs. Greece, Euro 2012: Samaras Booked, Still 0-0

Stay connected with SB Nation

Georgios Samaras has been booked. It was not undeserved. Actually, there's a reasonable case for him to be off at this point - he went in with a studs-up tackle on Sami Khedira in the second minute, slid through him again in the 13th, and now he's stepped on Bastian Schweinsteiger's ankle in less than nice fashion as the Bayern Munich midfielder tried to shepherd a ball back to Manuel Neuer.

It's at least somewhat notable that the match is still 0-0. After absorbing that heavy early pressure from Germany, Greece are actually doing reasonably well in limiting their opponents' chances. Granted, a lot of that is coming because they're just kicking the [bad words] out of the German midfield pivot, but considering that they've been defensively suspect all tournament this isn't going too badly just yet.
