Germany Vs. Greece, Euro 2012: Khedira Makes It 2-1

Stay connected with SB Nation

Oh, that's how they'll respond. It's 2-1 Germany after Sami Khedira replies to Georgios Samaras' goal (yeah, still difficult to process) with a scorching volley to bring the favourites ahead once more. Jerome Boateng ended up free down the Germany right, took a touch to steady himself, then fired a cross into Michail Sifakis' area. Most of his efforts have been wayward today, and this one looked like it was going to be more of the same when Miroslav Klose missed his header.

However, Khedira was on hand to hammer in from ten yards, leaving Sifakis with no chance at all and re-establishing Germany's 2-1 lead. A few minutes later, Thomas Mueller comes on for a disappointing Andre Schurrle, who's done a lot of giving the ball away. He probably won't be starting for Germany again this tournament.
