Germany Vs. Greece, Euro 2012: Klose Extends German Lead

Stay connected with SB Nation

That'll do it. Greece were level for a few minutes but now this match is over. Sami Khedira's goal in the 61st minute got the Germany lead back, and now it's 3-1 thanks to Miroslav Klose, a score which will certainly send Germany through to the semifinals.

It was all too easy in the end. Mesut Ozil swung in a corner and Michail Sifakis came way out of his net to collect it and ended up nowhere near the ball. That left Klose in a one on one with Kyriakos Papadopoulos, and you'd always bet on Klose to score from there. He rose and did just that, powering a header into the empty net to wrap things up.

Germany are looking for more goals, with great chances falling to Klose again and then Mueller. Four or five aren't out of the question, and on the balance of play they'd probably be deserved. Georgios Samaras' equaliser turns out to have been just what Germany needed.
