The Vancouver Whitecaps signed Scotland international forward Kenny Miller to a Designated Player contract on Monday. Miller has spent his entire career in Europe where he has played for such clubs as Rangers, Wolverhampton, Celtic, Bursaspor and, most recently, Cardiff City.
Miller's most successful stint was with Rangers from 2008-11 when he scored 49 goals in 81 Scottish Premier League appearances. That included a 26-goal season in 2010-11. The 32-year-old has scored 187 goals during 547 club appearances and 16 goals in 60 appearances with Scotland.
"We’re delighted to bring an experienced striker like Kenny to our club," Whitecaps head coach Martin Rennie said in a statement. "He has been a proven goalscorer with big clubs in Scotland and played in the England Premier League. His speed, energy, and work rate will be a valuable asset to our club, as we look to have a strong second half of the season in MLS."
