After a lengthy delay, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been confirmed as a Paris Saint-Germain player. Part of PSG's double raid on Serie A stalwarts, AC Milan, Zlatan had initially refused to accept his new club's wage offer, leading to an extended tug-of-war between his agent and the club. But now, things are resolved (presumably the Swede got what he wanted), and Ibrahimovic's move to Ligue 1 is complete.
Milan's two best players are now in Paris, with centre back Thiago Silva having already been announced as half of the €62M deal, and they join Ezequiel Lavezzi, Javier Pastore and Jeremy Menez in France's capital, all under the auspices of Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti. It's a worrying sign for the Serie A -- they're hemmorhaging players to an upstart nouveau riche club -- but a highly interesting turn for French football. Is Ligue 1 on the way to becoming relevant, or is this going to be an Anzhi Makhachkala-esque situation? Time will tell.
