Although the details remain, it seems that AS Roma and Siena have reached an agreement on Mattia Destro. The striker, co-owned by Siena and Genoa, has signed a five-year contract worth €1.5m (plus bonuses) per year. Siena is now working on getting 18-year-old midfielder Valerio Verre as part of the deal. Genoa may also get another Roma youth, Giammario Piscitella.
With the move to the giallorossi seemingly in place, questions remain about the makeup of the team under Zdeněk Zeman. Will this be the Roma coach who is finally able to hold his own against Francesco Totti? If not, Destro might find himself on the sidelines more often than not. There's also Pablo Osvaldo, signed by Roma just last season. It's possible Zeman might still find a way to ship him out, as many seemed less than pleased with his performance and, quite likely, with his temper.
All in all, though, a good move for Roma as they continue to signify their intentions of Champions League play in the near future.
