Aurelien Collin will miss 1-2 weeks after suffering two facial fractures during the MLS All-Stars 3-2 win over Chelsea on Wednesday. The injuries seem to have occurred when Collin collided with Michael Essien near midfield. Although Collin eventually returned, he was forced off the field and was ultimately pulled after 36 minutes.
Losing Collin is a blow to Sporting Kansas City, who have been among the best defenses in the league this year. Sporting KC's goals against average of .90 is the best in the league and they have registered nine shutouts, with Collin starting all 21 of their games and coming off the field just once all season. Just for good measure, Collin has also scored three goals and added an assist.
Collin will miss at least Saturday's game against the Columbus Crew. If he's out the full two weeks, that would also mean he'd miss a league match against the New England Revolution on Aug. 4 and the U.S. Open Cup final against the Seattle Sounders on Aug. 8.
