There are goals all over the place in MLS and now there are 4th of July fireworks too!

The rough and tumble MLS we have come to know and unexpectedly (kind of) love (sometimes) is over and done with. Now MLS is a league of beautiful passing, free flowing play, unlimited skill and goals galore. Okay, maybe not. It is still rough and tumble and the pretty things might be hard to come by at times, but the goals are there. Like really, really there.

Last weekend there were 25 goals in eight matches. Goals were raining down on matches, and while some of it was due to poor defending (HI THERE, QUAKES/GALAXY!), some of them were great goals and at the very least, the matches were a ton of fun. Goals for everyone!

Now it's time for the annual 4th of July matches, which hopefully look a lot like last week's matches. Special bonus: the 4th of July matches always bring out some of the biggest crowds of the year so the atmosphere will be up a notch too. Bring on the fireworks!

Houston Dynamo vs. Chicago Fire

Tuesday, 8:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live

Are the Fire good or not? Can they make the Quaker Oats guy on their jersey let us know before every match because I'm tired of trying to figure it out.

Pick: Draw, 1-1.

Portland Timbers vs. San Jose Earthquakes

Tuesday, 10:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live

Of course Portland wants to play their 4th of July match on the 3rd. Hipsters.

Pick: San Jose, 2-1.

Montreal Impact vs. Sporting Kansas City

Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. ET, MLS Live

Sporting have probably played the two best matches of any team in the league this year. They have also played the two worst matches of any team in the league this year. There's a Charlie Sheen joke in here somewhere.

Pick: Kansas City, 3-1.

FC Dallas vs. Toronto FC

Wednesday, 9:00 p.m. ET, MLS Live

If Dallas win then the Reds should have to change their name to FC Toronto and if Toronto win then the Hoops should have to change their name to Dallas FC. It would make the match worth watching, but at least there would be something on the line then.

Pick: The sport of soccer loses.

Colorado Rapids vs. Vancouver Whitecaps

Wednesday, 9:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live

These are two pretty good teams. They are two entertaining teams too. WAIT WHAT?!? Anyone who watched MLS last season is very confused.

Pick: Draw, 2-2.

Real Salt Lake vs. Seattle Sounders

Wednesday, 10:00 p.m. ET, MLS Live

Is it fair to say that Salt Lake is spiraling now? They have lost three straight matches, and all of this after going 2-0 up on the Galaxy. They blew that lead, then lost to the Quakes and last week didn't just lose to the Crew, they looked awful in doing so. Weren't they supposed to be the best team in MLS?

On the flip side is Seattle, who are most certainly spiraling now. Actually, they were spiraling weeks ago and are now doing something completely different. They are winless in their last eight league matches and now they play RSL, who started their run of ineptitude way back on May 12. It's been that long since the Sounders won a match. Sigi Schmid still has a job. Something here isn't adding up.

Pick: Salt Lake, 2-0.

LA Galaxy vs. Philadelphia Union

Wednesday, 10:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live

It's cute that the Union are trying to play like a real professional team. It's cute that the Galaxy call their back four a "defense".

Pick: Los Angeles, 2-0.
