Rio Ferdinand had a personal interest in John Terry's trial for a public order offense, given that the man he was alleged to have racially abused was his brother Anton Ferdinand. Ferdinand has used his personal twitter account to express his displeasure with Terry on multiple occasions since the incident at Loftus Road in October, but probably crossed the line during the trial, and has been charged with improper conduct by The FA.
During the Terry trial, Ferdinand's England teammate Ashley Cole, who is black, testified and said that he does not believe Terry is racist. A message to Ferdinand on twitter referred to Cole as "choc ice", to which Ferdinand responded, "I hear you fella! Choc ice is a classic!"
In a hilarious twist of irony, Ferdinand will almost certainly defend himself in the exact same way that Terry defended himself against his public order offense: By saying that he was simply repeating what another person said, and not directing a racial epithet at Cole.
