It's really a shame that the MLS Save of the Year doesn't include plays by non-goalkeepers because FC Dallas' Hernan Pertuz would have a pretty strong case. The 23-year-old Colombian showed some impressive skills when he caught Chris Wondolowski's shot on an open net from behind to clear it away and, at least temporarily, preserve the tie.
The play was reminiscent of Tim Ream's save of Landon Donovan's shot a year ago. The one big difference? Unlike Ream's save, that was played over and over again, this one was actually kept the ball from crossing the goal line.
