Alan Pardew might have seen his Newcastle United team win 2-1 against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, but in the middle of the match he screwed up pretty badly, shoving the assistant referee while disputing a (n admittedly blown) thrown-in call that led to a dangerous Spurs attack. He was immediately sent to the stands, and now he's facing a misconduct charge from the FA:
The FA has today [Monday 20 August 2012] charged Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew with misconduct following his side’s match against Tottenham Hotspur on 18 August 2012.
Pardew has until 4pm on 23 August 2012 to respond to the charge.
A short touchline ban is probably in order, and considering how apologetic Pardew was after the match it's difficult to imagine him contesting it. It was a stupid move and everyone knows it. Kicking up a fuss about the punishment after admitting as much would be rather out of character for the 51-year-old.
