A new season with new boots on professional feet. This is what the stars of the Premier League wore on opening weekend.

In case somehow you hadn't heard, the Premier League is back! With it, come a whole host of new boot launches that both players and manufacturers are eager to get on the field. There were plenty of great spots from the opening round including a couple of new launches and colorways, one customized through adidas, and another that had a marker taken to it. We have rounded up one interesting boot from each of the weekend's matches.

Arsenal 0-0 Sunderland

Of the athletes currently wearing the classic Puma King, most have opted for the SL version. Lee Cattermole has gone for the classic look as Sunderland drew 0-0 with Arsenal.

Fulham 5-0 Norwich City

Fulham ran riot on Norwich City without Clint Dempsey in the side. Midfielder Mahamadou Diarra took the occasion to debut his white-on-black miAdidas Predator LZs that matched the Fulham kit very well.

Queens Park Rangers 0-5 Swansea City

The match's big story was the debut of Michu who scored a brace for the Swans in his adidas adiPure 11Pro but it was his celebration partner who was sporting the rarer boot. Danny Graham wore a very classy pair of pearlized white / pewter Umbro Specialis.

Reading 1-1 Stoke City

Stoke City's Rory Delap wore the weekend's most classic pair of boots, opting for the timeless Adidas Copa Mundial. Unlike many of the other players on the field, Delap opted for firm ground studs as opposed to the longer soft ground option.

West Bromwich Albion 3-0 Liverpool

The large Liverpool defeat was the big story in this one. It started off with a stunning Zoltan Gera goal on the half-volley and finished 3-0. WBA's Claudio Yacob did his part wearing the newest colorway of the Nike T90 Laser IV in black / total orange / blue glow.

West Ham 1-0 Aston Villa

Aston Villa gave their new away kits a league debut in their away loss to newly-promoted West Ham United. Villa's Charles N'Zogbia decided to break out the last generation of Adidas Predator, the adiPower, in the bespoke David Beckham colorway.

Newcastle United 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur

A number of the Premier League's biggest names gave the new Nike CTR360 Maestri III its league debut this weekend. Few, however, wore the alternate black / bright crimson colorway that Tottenham's Gylfi Sigurdsson is sporting.

Wigan Athletic 0-2 Chelsea

Ivan Ramis had a nightmarish debut for Wigan Athletic as the relatively big-money signing was run in circles by Chelsea's attackers. He was one of many wearing the black / yellow launch colorway of the Nike CTR360 Maestri III

Manchester City 3-2 Southampton

This was arguably the game of the weekend thanks to the quality of the play and end-to-end action. It seems that Gael Clichy did not want to show his Adidas Predator LZ's red highlights as City returned home to start their title defense. In order to cover them up, it looks like he took a marker to them in order to help them match Manchester City's kit.

Everton 1-0 Manchester United

Manchester United started the hunt for the Premier League title with a loss away to Everton thanks to a Marouane Fellaini headed goal. Ashley Young came on as a late substitute for Manchester United, wearing a rarely-seen Adidas F50 adiZero colorway in black / metallic silver / lab lime.
