The end of the season isn't too far away, which means teams are running out of time to get the wins they need.
The end of the MLS season is getting shockingly close. It's not as if the season will end tomorrow, but the finish line is in sight. That was quick. Sneaky, sneaky.
With that in mind, some teams better start winning. We list those running out of time to get wins:
- Anyone in the East who wants to win the conference.
- The San Jose Earthquakes.
- The Portland Timbers. Relegation looms.
Houston Dynamo vs. New York Red Bulls
Friday, 8:00 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Network
If this match was played last week it would feature arguably the two hottest teams in MLS, but the Red Bulls were trounced by the Montreal so there is only one super hot team left -- the Dynamo. They are on fire and welcome New York to the sauna that is BBVA Compass Stadium.
Pick: Houston, 2-1.
D.C. United vs. Columbus Crew
Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live
D.C. is all the way down to fourth place in the Eastern Conference. Sure, they have two matches in hand, but they're down to fourth! They were leading the East not too long ago.
Pick: Draw, 1-1.
New England Revolution vs. Sporting Kansas City
Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live
Once unbeatable at home, now Sporting can't buy a win at Livestrong Sporting Park. They might actually be happy to hit the road this week.
Pick: Draw, 2-2.
Montreal Impact vs. Philadelphia Union
Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live
All hail John Hackworth.
Pick: Philadelphia, 2-0.
Chicago Fire vs. Toronto FC
Saturday, 8:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live
Chicago are in a playoff spot and Toronto is actually playing not awful so why does this match feel like the least interesting thing ever? One of these teams needs to hire Maradona to manage them. I MISS MARADONA.
Pick: Zzzzzzzz.
Colorado Rapids vs. Real Salt Lake
Saturday, 9:00 p.m. ET, MLS Live
If you are a centerback with the following skills, RSL wants you: does not trip over own feet, knows which goal to defend, likes puppies. Jamison Olave, Chris Schuler, get well soon.
Pick: Draw, 1-1.
Portland Timbers vs. FC Dallas
Sunday, 7:00 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Network
This is on national TV?!? THIS?!?!?!?!?!?!
(Obligatory note: The Timbers should be relegated.)
Pick: Not NBC.
Seattle Sounders vs. LA Galaxy
Sunday, 9:00 p.m. ET, ESPN2
Don't look now, but the Galaxy are just one point behind the Sounders. The concern for LA this year has been as much their central midfield as their defense and with Omar Gonzalez coming back, the central midfield is concern numbers one, two and three. Juninho and/or Marcelo Sarvas, meet Osvaldo Alonso.
Pick: Seattle, 2-1.
