Tottenham have had a fresh injury blow with the news that Younes Kaboul has been ruled out of action for four months after undergoing surgery on his knee.
The French defender posted on his Twitter account: "Morning all, surgery done with success..Now looking forward for my rehab.I thank you all for your great support as usual!...Should be 4 months."
The news leaves Tottenham light on defensive cover, with Sebastian Bassong having already left the North London club, Ledley King having retired and Michael Dawson rumoured to be heading for the exit. Although Jan Vertonghen has been added to the Spurs squad, the news has the potential to halt any potential transfer for Dawson.
Kaboul made 21 league appearances for Spurs in each of his previous two seasons, and had secured his place as a valuable member of the Lilywhites' squad under previous manager Harry Redknapp, who signed him from Portsmouth in January 2010 for £9.5 million.
