Luca Toni has returned to Fiorentina after the Serie A club signed the striker at the last-minute from Al Nasr.

Veteran striker Luca Toni has rejoined his former club Fiorentina from United Arab Emirates club Al Nasr.

The 35-year-old previously played for the Viola between 2005 and 2007, where he scored a remarkable 47 goals in 67 appearances, making him a firm favourite with the fans, and with just minutes remaining of the Italian transfer window, the club have moved to bring him back to Italy.

Toni had previously been linked with a move to Siena in the window, but has signed a one-year deal with Fiorentina, for a fee of €400k.

Toni has been something of a journeyman throughout his career, playing for a number of Italian clubs before a breakthrough spell at Palermo, after which he moved to Fiorentina. The striker went on to play for Bayern Munich, Roma, Genoa, and Juventus before moving to the United Arab Emirates, and also made 47 appearances for the Azzurri, scoring 16 goals.
