The first Rhine Derby of the season between Fortuna Düsseldorf and Borussia Mönchengladbach ended in a goalless draw.
The hosts got off to a slow start, and Gladbach nearly scored after Fabian Giefer flapped at a long throw in, but Martin Stranzl shot over the bar. Minutes later Juan Arango put in an excellent free kick, and Giefer punched it clear.
Luuk De Jong threatened Giefer's goal twice in the first half, but the goalkeeper made the saves to deny him. Arango forced another great save out of Giefer in the 50th minute, and Gladbach could never get any closer.
The visitors threw on Dani Schahin hoping that he could find some of the magic that he had last week in their match against Augsburg. Schahin was involved early, but he was unable to produce a goal.
Düsseldorf will be please with the draw as they keep their perfect Bundesliga record after two matches and sit at four points.
