We fly high... - Clive Mason
Expect goals from both teams, but a heck of a lot more goals from Arsenal, when the Gunners travel to St. Mary's.
Southampton were gifted multiple advantages against Stoke City over the weekend. Stoke's best two defenders were out, the Saints scored early and Steven N'zonzi was shown a questionable red card. Still, Southampton allowed the Potters to come back and steal a draw.
They face a slightly stronger opponent on New Year's Day. Arsenal look to be picking up a bit of steam, and Theo Walcott is in the form of his life. Given Southampton's inability to keep teams like Stoke from scoring against them regularly, it wouldn't be shocking if Tuesday's game got a bit ugly.
While the Saints have some attacking talent and Arsenal regularly have games where their attack disappears, it's hard to imagine that the Gunners will fail to score multiple times at St. Mary's.
Southampton injuries and suspensions
Out: None. In doubt: Adam Lallana (knee), Nathaniel Clyne (knee).
Arsenal injuries and suspensions
Out: Abou Diaby (thigh), Andre Santos (abdominal), Lukas Fabianski (foot)
So much for the 'Arsenal DNA' joke. They're among the fittest teams in the league at the moment, and none of their missing players would be first choice at the moment. Southampton are without question the fittest side in the league. Both Lallana and Clyne face late fitness tests, and they could be injury free by their weekend FA Cup tie.

Venue: St. Mary's Stadium, Southampton, England
TV: Sky Sports 1 (U.K.), ESPN Deportes (U.S.)
Online: ESPN3 (U.S.)
