Manchester City vs. Fulham: Final score 2-0, easy win for City

Manchester City were hosting Fulham at the Etihad Stadium, and I think we all knew how that would go. The defending champions cruised to a 2-0 victory in a game where they barely had to pull out of first gear, scoring early before finishing things off in the second half.

Any hope that the Cottagers would make a game of it evaporated less than ninety seconds into the match. Edin Dzeko was invited to shoot from the top of the box, and the striker's effort was far too much for Mark Schwarzer to hold. David Silva pounced on the rebound to make it 1-0.

Fulham never looked like threatening from then on. It was a thoroughly boring game as a result, and it took more than an hour for much else interesting to happen. Fortunately, Silva was in a scoring mood, and he doubled the hosts' lead with a deft clip past Schwarzer to put the result beyond doubt. I'm trying to think of other interesting things to say at this point, but I'm failing.

The most entertaining thing about the match was how agitated Dimitar Berbatov was getting at the incompetence of teammates. That's amusing, but not enough to recommend having watched it.
