Adrián Colunga's goal before halftime helped Getafe earn a point and spoil Unai Emery's returning to coaching in La Liga.
Despite being the better side for most of the day, Sevilla were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Getafe. José Antonio Reyes put the visitors ahead five minutes from halftime, but Adrián Colunga scored four minutes later to pull Getafe back and earn them a point.
Sevilla took the lead in the 40th minute after a deflected ball at the top of the Getafe box was back heeled by Ivan Rakitic to a charging Reyes who placed his shot top corner over the outstretched hand of Getafe keeper Miguel Moya.
The lead was short lived.
Four minutes later Getafe struck back thanks to beautifully struck free kick from 35-yards out. A foul by Cicinho on Colunga gave the striker a chance to lineup a shot from distance and he didn't waste the opportunity. Colunga's free kick sailed over Andrés Palop, who jumped and waved desperately at the ball, before it tucked itself under the crossbar and pulled Getafe even at 1-1.
Both sides had plenty of chances to find the winner but no one could find the net and the match finished as a draw.
