Osasuna moved out of last place and picked up some key points with a 2-1 defeat of fellow relegation fodder Deportivo La Coruña. Goals from Kike Sola and Nino led the way for Los Rojillos as they handed Domingos Paciência his first lost since taking over at Deportivo.
Kike Sola put Osasuna in front in the 26th minute after getting on the end of a cross from Emiliano Armenteros and beating Daniel Aranzubía with a rather fancy aerial finish. Deportivo will be none to pleased after seeing the replays that showed Sola was clearly offside on the play, but officials missed it and the goal stood.
Deportivo managed only one shot in the first half and it wasn't that good of an effort by Riki that was easily dealt with by Andres Fernandez.
Osasuna doubled their advantage in the 61st minute when Lolo took a quick free kick and caught the Deportivo defense flat footed. Lolo lobbed his free kick over the defense right to Nino who wasted no time hammering the ball in to the top corner of the net, giving the home side a 2-0 lead.
Deportivo finally woke up late in the match and even added a goal in stoppage time when Javier Camuñas toe poked in a cross from Pizzi. It was too little, too late for the visitors and really only make the match look much closer that it really was.
With the win, Osasuna climbs in to 18th place, still in the relegation zone but only a point behind Celta Vigo. It's their second straight positive result, having taken a point off Real Madrid last weekend. Deportivo falls back in to last place with the disappointing performance.
