Young Brazilian Philippe Coutinho looks set to move to Liverpool, after the Reds met the €13 million price demanded by Inter Milan. Southampton are believed to also have met the asking price, but despite having previously played under Mauricio Pochettino, Coutinho has no desire to join up with the Saints.
The 20-year-old has 12 appearances for the nerazzurri this season, with just four starts. However, the amount of time spent in an Inter kit indicates little about the player's actual level of talent, considering coach Andrea Stramaccioni'sreluctance to regularly include young players in the lineup. Additionally, Strama favors a 3-5-2 much of the time, leaving little room for Coutinho, who he often plays behind the strikers, or out wide in a front three.
Perhaps a better indication of the player's ability is his time on loan with Espanyol last season. He spent the second half of the season with the Spanish side, notching 16 appearances and scoring 5 goals. At Liverpool, he can provide more options for Brendan Rodgers, who can use him as relief for Raheem Sterling.
While many reports suggest Paulinho will now come in at Inter, Corinthians have denied the club have made an offer for the midfielder.
