Algeria vs. Togo: Final score 2-0 as Algeria are eliminated

This match was ridiculously bad. I mean, really, really, really bad. Emmanuel Adebayor did manage to give Togo a 1-0 lead thanks to a nicely-taken shot after he was put through the Algeria line with a neat cushioned header, but that was the only moment of genuine quality in an ill-tempered match before a bizarre incident in which one of the goalposts was knocked out of alignment.

Algeria didn't find a way into Kossi Agassa's goal in the traditional manner, but that didn't stop Sofiane Feghouli from snapping the post by running into the back of the net. That led to a lengthy, hilarious delay as players stood around bewildered as the groundsmen first attempted to fix the goal and then were forced into replacing it. Eventually, it was fixed.

Lots of injury time followed, Togo scored again (Dove Wome raced clear of the defence and tucked a neat finish under Rais M'Bohli); the Fennec Foxes did not, and that left Algeria eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations. Out, as they say, with a whimper.
