Wolfsburg have bolstered their attack by bringing in Ivan Perisic from Borussia Dortmund on a contract that will keep him at the Volkswagen Arena until June 2017. He becomes the first signing under new new sporting director Klaus Allofs and new manager Dieter Hecking. The transfer fee was not disclosed, but it is believed to be in the range of €8 million.
Perisic, 23, joined Borussia Dortmund from Club Brugge in the summer of 2011. The Croatian made 42 appearances in the Bundesliga for BVB and scored 9 goals. Perisic has been looking for more playing time, but it has been hard to come by while playing behind the likes of Mario Götze, Jakub Blaszczykowski, Marco Reus, and Shinji Kagawa.
The club is currently in Turkey for winter training, and Perisic spoke about Wolfsburg's current place in the table:
"15th place in the Bundesliga is naturally not good. I hope to be able to play my part in improving our position in the table as quickly as possible. I addition, I hope we can make it all the way to the final of the DFB-Cup. We can lay the groundwork to achieve that by preparing well here in Belek."
