Stuttgart have announced that Tamas Hajnal and Christian Gentner have signed contract extensions that will keep them at the Mercedes Benz Arena for the near future.
Hajnal, 31, signed a one year extension that will keep him in Stuttgart through the summer of 2014. The contract also includes a one year option. The Hungarian initially joined Stuttgart on loan from Borussia Dortmund in January 2011, but the deal was made permanent the following summer. He's scored 4 goals and assisted on 14 in his 55 league appearances.
"VfB is a fantastic club. I feel right at home here and I look forward to implementing the experience I have as a 31 year old both nationally as well as internationally here in the next year to help the team wherever possible."
The deal for Gentner, 27, will see him through the summer of 2016. The German midfielder is a regular starter for Stuttgart and played in 26 matches in all competitions during the first half of the season. He was a member of the 2006-07 Bundesliga Champion side in Stuttgart before moving to Wolfsburg at the end of that season. Gentner would return to Stuttgart in the summer of 2010 but not before being a part of Wolfsburg's first ever Bundesliga title in the 2008-09 season.
"VfB has a place in my heart. We have made a good start here and are far from being at the end of our development. I want to be a significant element of this team and do my bit in ensuring that we can establish ourselves at the very top level in the coming years."
