Those who spout the 'magic of the cup' refrain get to watch a dream tie on Tuesday, as Bradford City look to continue their march towards Wembley.
Bradford City play the first leg of their League Cup semifinal tie at home against Aston Villa, giving them a chance to at least take a bit of momentum into the second leg. The last time most viewers saw Bradford, they were stunning Arsenal at home in a penalty shootout. The Cinderella story of the season might not last much longer, but they'll have every chance to get off on the right foot on Tuesday.
Aston Villa have been in horrible form as of late, but earned a credible draw away to Swansea in their last Premier League match, and were victorious against Ipswich in the FA Cup this weekend. With a relegation six-pointer against Southampton ahead on the schedule, Paul Lambert will have to seriously think about the fitness of his players and who might be in need of a rest.
The other semifinal takes place between two Premier League teams, with Swansea and Chelsea fighting for a trip to Wembley. Their Nov. 3 Premier League match was an excellent one, with Pablo Hernandez scoring a late equalizer to snatch a 1-1 draw at the Liberty Stadium. Their tie begins at Stamford Bridge, where Swansea need to do some damage control.
Schedule
Bradford City vs. Aston Villa - Tuesday, 7:45 p.m. local, 2:45 p.m. ET
Chelsea vs. Swansea City - Wednesday, 7:45 p.m. local, 2:45 p.m. ET
