It's been a decent first half for Aston Villa. They've been the better side, they've created chances, and they've only allowed one real clear-cut scoring opportunity to Bradford City. That one chance came on an unlucky deflection. Unfortunately for them, Bradford capitalized on that one chance and Matt Duke has been brilliant in goal for the home side.
After one half of play, Bradford lead Aston Villa 1-0 in the first semifinal leg of their Capital One Cup tie. They've been even more impressive than they were in their win over Arsenal, and they look very capable of going on to win this match, even if it's obvious that Villa have more quality. They've managed to generate 11 shots in a very open game, with their leading scorer Nakhi Wells punching in after 19 minutes. He made the most of a deflected corner that fell fortunately to him, volleying past Shay Given.
A match this wide-open probably shouldn't benefit Bradford, considering the outrageous athleticism possessed by Gabriel Agbonlahor and Christian Benteke, but they're making it work. However, any conceded goal might be a disaster. They'll need to take a lead -- if not a multiple-goal lead -- to Villa Park to feel good about their chances of going to Wembley.
