Throughout CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying, Chile and Ecuador have played entertaining football in very different ways. Ecuador are a very direct and athletic team that likes to attack down the wings, while Chile have a bit more flair than athleticism and play some pretty combinations on the ground through the center of the pitch, though they're not adverse to direct counter-attacking either. Under normal circumstances, they'd have an excellent match, and it's not out of the question that they'll bring their best on Tuesday.
It's also not out of the question that they'll stand around and do absolutely nothing. Chile and Ecuador both sit three points ahead of Uruguay and both will be guaranteed an automatic spot if they draw each other. While no one expects either team to blatantly play to a handshake draw and make no effort to score, it wouldn't be stunning to see both teams pack 9-10 men behind the ball at all times and attack exclusively on the counter while taking very few chances.
Ecuador and Chile will provide plenty of entertainment at the finals and serious opposition for whoever they face, but don't expect them to be at their best on the final day of CONMEBOL qualifying.
