West Ham United vs. Manchester City: Preview and TV schedule

Shaun Botterill

Saturday's teatime kickoff will see West Ham looking to kick-start their season at home to an unpredictable Manchester City.

Manchester City are yet to look completely convincing under Manuel Pellegrini, having drawn against Stoke and lost to Aston Villa recently. They're currently fifth in the table; three points adrift of league leaders Arsenal. However, they should be able to record their fifth league win of the season this weekend, travelling to Upton Park to play an unconvincing West Ham.

The Hammers' shock 3-0 win away at Tottenham Hotspur before the international break was only their second win of the season, and Sam Allardyce will be looking to use it as a catalyst for a good run of form. However, facing City this weekend, it looks unlikely.

West Ham will be without Andy Carroll, Alou Diarra and James Collins through injury, while City have a couple of defenders on the injury list. Summer arrival Martín Demichelis is definitely out, while captain Vincent Kompany is also likely to be sidelined with a thigh problem.

West Ham United injuries and suspensions

Out: Andy Carroll (foot), Alou Diarra (knee), James Collins (hamstring). In doubt: None.
