Bundesliga, Week 10: The Revierderby is this weekend, get hype

Christof Koepsel

The Bundesliga's fiercest rivalry takes center stage this weekend. Schalke and Borussia Dortmund will battle on Saturday in the Revierderby.

The Bundesliga has intense and fun matches every single week, but this weekend is being kicked up a notch. The Revierderby between Schalke and Borussia Dortmund will kick off on Saturday morning. If you're a fan of either club or fun football in general, that is the match that you want to tune in to watch.

Stuttgart vs. Nürnberg

There's some fantastic news for Stuttgart to start the weekend as it appears that Sven Ulreich will finally be returning to the team sheet after being out for several weeks with an injury. Nürnberg will be debuting with new head coach Gertjan Verbeek and hoping to turn their season around for the better in his first match on the sideline.

Time & Location: 20:30 Local / 2:30 PM Eastern; Mercedes-Benz Arena, Stuttgart

Prediction: Stuttgart 2 - 1 Nürnberg

Bayern Munich vs. Hertha Berlin

Bayern play their second home game in four days when Hertha Berlin visit the Allianz Arena on Saturday. Wednesday, Bayern throttled Viktoria Plzen and will look to do the same against Hertha. Jos Luhukay has the newly promoted capital side all the way into fourth. Bayern won't take them lightly due to them being a newly promoted side. Pep Guardiola has his team playing fantastic football at the moment.

Time & Location: 15:30 Local / 9:30 AM Eastern; Allianz Arena, Munich

Prediction: Bayern Munich 3 - 0 Hertha Berlin

Schalke vs. Borussia Dortmund

The Revierderby takes place on Saturday and both clubs are coming into it with some injuries. Schalke will be without Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Marco Höger, while Borussia Dortmund won't have Lukasz Piszczek and Ilkay Gündogan. The match will be intense with Schalke supporters screaming for their third win in a row over their rivals. BVB will be the favorites, and after their scintillating performance midweek against Arsenal, you can see why. However, I'm throwing conventional wisdom away and am picking a draw.

Time & Location: 15:30 Local / 9:30 AM Eastern; Veltins Arena, Gelsenkirchen

Prediction: Schalke 2 - 2 Borussia Dortmund

Bayer Leverkusen vs. Augsburg

Leverkusen are coming off of a big win midweek against Shakhtar Donetsk and should see themselves past Augsburg with relative ease.

Time & Location: 15:30 Local / 9:30 AM Eastern; BayArena, Leverkusen

Prediction: Bayer Leverkusen 2 - 0 Augsburg

Hannover vs. Hoffenheim

This match can go two ways. The first way is that Hannover continues their not-losing-at-home run that they're currently on at this point. While they're weak on the road, they're very tough to beat at home. On the other hand, Hoffenheim are likely extremely angry about being "cheated" last week on the phantom goal scored by Stefan Kießling. They could come out like gangbusters.

Time & Location: 15:30 Local / 9:30 AM Eastern; HDI Arena, Hannover

Prediction: Hannover 2 - 1 Hoffenheim

Mainz vs. Eintracht Braunschweig

Mainz took a beating at the hands of Bayern Munich last weekend, but they should find things a little easier this weekend when Eintracht Braunschweig visit the Coface Arena. Braunschweig could pull another victory here.

Time & Location: 15:30 Local / 9:30 AM Eastern; Coface Arena, Mainz

Prediction: Mainz 2 - 1 Eintracht Braunschweig

Wolfsburg vs. Werder Bremen

I like Dieter Hecking's side to beat Robin Dutt's team in this high scoring affair.

Time & Location: 18:30 Local / 12:30 PM Eastern; Volkswagen Arena, Wolfsburg

Prediction: Wolfsburg 3 - 2 Werder Bremen

Sunday, October 27

Freiburg vs. Hamburg

Oh, Freiburg. What's left to say? I don't see you beating Hamburg this weekend. That's how far you've fallen. Perhaps, you sold too many players over the summer.

Time & Location: 15:30 Local / 9:30 AM Eastern; Mage Solar Stadium, Freiburg

Prediction: Freiburg 1 - 2 Hamburg

Borussia Mönchengladbach vs. Eintracht Frankfurt

I feel like Eintracht Frankfurt are always on the verge of breaking out of their funk and moving up the table. Their test this weekend against Gladbach will be extremely tough. Lucien Favre has his work cut out for him this weekend to make sure Gladbach doesn't slip further down the table.

Time & Location: 17:30 Local / 11:30 AM Eastern; Borussia Park, Mönchengladbach

Prediction: Borussia Mönchengladbach 2 - 3 Eintracht Frankfurt
