Chelsea vs. Manchester City: Lineups

Clive Rose

Jose Mourinho leaves out David Luiz and Juan Mata for Chelsea, while Manchester City name a fairly defensive lineup including Martin Demichelis and Javi Garcia as the two nouvevau-riche clubs do battle at Stamford Bridge.

Both Chelsea and Manchester City have some surprises in their lineups as they face a clash at Stamford Bridge.

José Mourinho has left Juan Mata and David Luiz out of the side, with both on the bench and John Terry partnering Gary Cahill in central defence. Fernando Torres starts up front, while Andre Schurrle is also included in Chelsea's attacking band of three.

Manchester City, meanwhile, have a conservative-looking midfield of Yaya Toure, Javi Garcia and Fernandinho, while Demichelis is a surprise inclusion at centre-back. New signings Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo are relegated to the bench for the occasion, with Sergio Aguero alone up front.

Chelsea starting lineup: Petr Cech; Branislav Ivanovic, Gary Cahill, John Terry, Ashley Cole; Ramires, Lampard; Eden Hazard, Oscar, Andre Schurrle; Fernando Torres.

Manchester City starting lineup: Joe Hart; Pablo Zabaleta, Martin Demichelis, Matija Nastasic, Gael Clichy; Javi Garcia, Fernandinho; Samir Nasri, Yaya Toure, David Silva; Sergio Aguero.
