Arsenal vs. Chelsea: Preview and TV schedule

Clive Rose

In the pick of this week's Capital One Cup games, Arsenal host Chelsea at the Emirates.

Arsenal and Chelsea are currently first and second in the Premier League respectively, with their meeting in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday lending the competition at least a semblance of interest. The Gunners have only lost at home domestically once this season and that was way back in August, while Chelsea have only dropped a couple of points in their last seven games in all competitions.

Unlike Chelsea -- who won this tournament back in 2007 -- Arsenal haven't had their hands on the League Cup in over two decades, last tasting success in 1993. However, they have been beaten finalists twice since, and have ended up runners-up on five occasions in total -- that's more than any other team.

For this match, Arsenal still have their traditionally lengthy injury list. Added to it from their last match are Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta, who are injured and suspended. Chelsea's is comparatively much shorter, with only the long-term injured Marco van Ginkel sidelined.

Arsenal injuries and suspensions

Out: Theo Walcott (abdominal), Yaya Sanogo (back), Lukas Podolski (hamstring), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee), Abou Diaby (knee), Mathieu Flamini (groin), Mikel Arteta (suspended). In doubt: None.

Chelsea injuries and suspensions

Out: Marco van Ginkel (knee). In doubt: None.
