South Africa vs. Spain: Preview and TV schedule

Denis Doyle

Spain's friendly tour of Africa concludes in South Africa, sight of their 2010 World Cup triumph.

For the first time since their World Cup triumph in 2010, Spain returns to Soccer City in Johannesburg, this time for a friendly match against South Africa.

Spain were less than impressive in their 2-1 win over Equatorial Guinea last week, though head coach Vincente del Bosque did field a rather inexperienced lineup. Reports our of Spain's camp are that several usual starters, including the likes of Iker Casiallas, Sergio Ramos and Andres Iniesta, are expected to start against South Africa.

Xabi Alonso is not expected to play after he picked up a knock to his ankle in Sautrday's friendly. Javi Martinez, who missed the match with a minor injury of his own, is fit and expected to start in place of Alonso.

This will be the fourth match between Bafana Bafana and Spain, with the European giants having won all three previous matches. South Africa forced Spain to extra time the last time the two teams met in the 2009 Confederations Cup third-place match.

Match Date/Time: 9:00 p.m. local, 2:00 p.m. ET

Venue: FNB Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa
