It's really not a good time to be a full-back on Merseyside. Just as Everton have Leighton Baines ruled out for a month, Liverpool's José Enrique is sidelined for ten weeks after undergoing surgery on a knee injury. According to an official statement:
More from our team sites
Liverpool Football Club can confirm that Jose Enrique has successfully undergone arthroscopic surgery to resolve an issue with his right knee ... Enrique is expected to return to full training at Melwood in around 10 weeks' time."
Enrique had only just returned from a month on the sidelines when he appeared in Liverpool's 4-0 win over Fulham earlier in November, though after surgery, he'll have to get used to watching from the stands again.
While Enrique probably wouldn't be described as one of Liverpool's key players, he has still established himself as Brendan Rodgers' first-choice left-back, and will be missed. Fortunately there is cover in the form of Aly Cissokho, who arrived on loan from Valencia back in the summer.
